It is the big question for every flight – which seat do I choose? Where is the best seat on the plane?
After some flights, we have worked out some criteria for ourselves that make it easier for us to choose.
1.The last row
Try to avoid a seat in the last row! There are no worse places on the plane for us.
There are several reasons for this:
The backrest of the seats can usually not be adjusted or only slightly adjusted in the last row.
Behind the last row of seats is usually the toilet. Sure, you don’t have it far yourself. This could sometimes prove to be an advantage. But as a rule, there are always several fellow travelers at the toilet. If you have caught another aisle in the last row, you really suffer. Someone is always standing next to you. If a passenger comes from the toilet and wants to return to his place, it gets tight in the hallway. The standing person tries to create some space, which can only be found between the seat loans. If you sit there, you will quickly have to hang more or less pleasant body parts in front of your nose.
In addition, the waiters often hold on to the backrests of the seats. As a result, your own backrest is constantly wobbling.
Another disadvantage of the toilet for me is the rushing vacuum flushing and the rattling door. It’s not easy for me to sleep.
The galley is located in the rear part of the aircraft. In the last row, you can quickly get your food and drinks. But you can also hear the sounds of the preparations and follow-up. Especially on long-haul flights, this can be quite annoying.
Stability of the aircraft
The center of gravity of the aircraft is furthest from the last row of seats. The lateral stabilizer passes on the vibrations directly in the event of turbulence. If you have a sensitive stomach or suffer from fear of flying, you should avoid the last row of seats and sit further ahead.

2.The middle seat is a horror for solo travelers
If you sit in a row of seats as a family or with friends, the middle seat is quite nice. You can have a good conversation on both sides and feel “secovered” with your loved ones.
If you travel alone, you should avoid the middle seat on the plane. I feel almost squeezed by strangers. It is certainly not meant to be mean, but including strong perfume, cigarette or body quirrels, the flight can become torture. Even the extreme body fullness of my seat neighbors fills me in the middle with the crushing feeling of being squeezed in.
Have you ever tried to eat sensibly if you had a middle seat? It’s not that simple. Your neighbors also make an effort to move within the smallest possible range of movement. But still, the space in the middle is very limited.
Yes, and then I still have the question of who owns which armrest? The outdoor Airplane Seats each have an armrest on their own. The armrests in the middle have to be divided. That’s usually not a problem, but I think cozy is different.
3.The place in the hallway
For passengers with long legs, the aisle seat on the plane is one of the few ways to stretch out their legs. A real plus. Honestly, I like to get up for my seat neighbors when they have to go to the toilet.
The “traffic” on the corridor on the plane is somewhat disadvantageous. The on-board staff with their cars and passengers moving in the aisle – please pull your feet in time!
To be honest, it bothers the most when passengers hold on to your backrest when they move in the corridor. It wobbles unpleasantly and when you should sleep, you wake up every time.
