Is Moving to Las Vegas Right for You?

by Brian Baumgartner
in Travel

Las Vegas is an incredible city with a little bit of everything for everyone.  If you’re ready to move and want Vegas more than anything, it’s a good idea to be realistic.

These are the top ways to figure out whether Las Vegas is good for you and why it matters.

Four Things To Do Off The Beaten Track In Vegas

Can You Afford the Housing?

Nothing’s as eye-opening as looking at the price of houses for rent in Las Vegas.  Housing in Vegas is incredibly expensive and can hold you back from getting to spend your income in more entertaining ways.  The longer you live here, the more incredibly expensive it will get, so you must have an income that can grow with you or that you can find a job that allows upward movement.

If you want to make it more affordable, consider getting one or multiple roommates!  It’s important to get to know them first and ensure they’re reliable before you turn around and rent from them.  Not only will this give you the chance to save some money, but you’ll also have a built-in social group to explore the city with!

Have You Ever Had a Gambling Problem?

Gambling is one of the top pastimes in Vegas, so if you have a problem with it and can’t seem to stop once you get started, it could be the wrong choice for you.  Although gambling and betting can be fun when done responsibly, once it makes a large impact on your livelihood and quality of life: it’s time to reconsider this hobby.

If you have no interest in gambling, or you’ve never struggled with it as an issue, then you’re still safe to move here.  Just make sure to check in with yourself occasionally to ensure you’re not getting out of hand.

Do You Consider Yourself a Foodie?

If you love good food: you’ll love Vegas.   Las Vegas has more Michelin Star chefs per capita than any other city in the country and offers a huge assortment of flavors, experiences, and prices that can sate anyone’s hunger for adventure.

Although some restaurants are mind-bogglingly expensive, more are affordable and even offer discounts if you visit often enough.  If you love food and want to keep new flavors in your life, Las Vegas is awesome.

Are You Okay With the Hustle and Bustle?

Las Vegas only has one slow period.  This break is in the late summer when the temperatures hit record-breaking highs, and the city seems to slow to a crawl.  For the rest of the year, Vegas is a non-stop hustle and bustle, with endless things to do and see and millions of tourists coming and going.

Although every major city has a large population of people who are constantly active, few cities have a high turnover of people in town quite like Vegas.  This can be overwhelming and exhausting for some people, so make sure you’re okay with it before you move.

There’s No City Like Las Vegas

The City of Lights is so much more than just an incredible vacation spot.  If you’re considering a big move, and aren’t sold on where to land, let Las Vegas catch you!
